Watford agree £4m deal for West Brom goalkeeper

West Bromwich Albion have agreed a £4m deal with Watford for the sale of goalkeeper Ben Foster, according to The Daily Mail. 

The Hornets had previously made a bid of £2.5m for the former England shot stopper, but it is understood that they have upped their game after an initial bid was rejected.

Foster had previously spent time on loan at Vicarage Road, after completing two seasons with the Hornets on loan from Manchester United between 2005 and 2007.

He joined West Brom in 2012 from Midland rivals Birmingham City for a reported fee of £4m.

Since joining West Brom on a permanent basis he has made 172 appearances at The Hawthorns.

He quickly established himself as a fans favourite at the club but looks set to depart this summer as he wants to remain in the Premier League.

The 35 year old refused to attend the Baggies pre season tour alongside Craig Dawson and both were fined as a result.

Foster is now expected to challenge Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes for the number one shirt at Vicarage Road next season.

The former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper has spent four years at the club at has been the first choice keeper for the Londoners since his arrival.

West Brom have already signed Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone for a fee of £6.5m, which opens the door for Foster to depart this summer.

Johnstone spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, impressing during his time at Villa Park.

Foster now looks set to leave the club and is expected to be confirmed as a Watford player once more in the coming days.
