Hibernian hoping to thrash out loan deal for PNE winger this week

Scottish Premiership club Hibernian are hoping to thrash out a deal with Preston North End for winger Daryl Horgan before the weekend according to the Edinburgh Evening News.

The 25-year-old Galway-born wideman faces an uncertain future at Deepdale after falling out of favour with the Lancashire club.

It is thought that Hibs manager Neil Lennon would like to sign the player on loan with a season-long arrangement likely to be the most preferable option. Hibernian must register any new signings by Friday for them to feature in their UEFA Europa League tie with Faroe Islands outfit NSI Runavik, meaning that the club must work quickly to agree a loan deal for Horgan.

The winger started his career in the Galway & District League with Salthill Devon before enjoying spells with Sligo Rovers, Cork City and Dundalk. It was with The Town where Horgan caught the eye and the player soon had a number of English admirers watching on.

In December 2016, Horgan and Dundalk teammate Andy Boyle joined Sky Bet Championship club Preston North End. Horgan initially featured regularly for The Lilywhites, however, the player made just two appearances for North End in the final two months of last season.

Should Hibernian fail to agree a deal for the player before Friday’s deadline, the Leith-based club would not be able to register Horgan until prior to any Second Qualifying Round UEFA Europa League tie.
