Derby have bid rejected for PSV winger

According to Sky Sports, Derby County have been rebuffed in their attempts to sign Brentford winger Florian Jozefzoon.

Frank Lampard is eager to get the ball rolling at Derby and is keen on making the former Dutch under-21 his first signing at Pride Park.

Derby’s initial bid is said to be around £1.5m, with the offer falling significantly short of Dean Smith’s valuation for the winger.

Leeds United are also said to be interested on the electric winger but Brentford are remaining tight on their bid to keep their star players, with the Bee’s already rejecting a £10m bid from Bournemouth for French defender Chris Mepham.

Brentford have already made quick work of replacing experienced defender Andreas Bjelland who choose not to renew his contract at Griffin Park, by signing highly-rated young defender Ezri Konsa from Charlton.

Derby remain hopeful of a deal for the former PSV winger, but Lampard’s side may have to triple their bid for Jozefzoon. A decision will have to be made soon due to interest from fellow Championship sides.

Money may soon not be an issue for Derby, with Andi Weimann now a Bristol City player and Matej Vydra said to be edging closer to a move to Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United for between £10-15m.

The generic saying goes that every season will be a big season for the team in question, for Brentford however they have had the luxury of fighting off competition for their manager Dean Smith. For a team who narrowly missed out on the playoffs for the last three seasons, as well as being beaten in the playoffs back in 2015, momentum is definitely on their side for the upcoming season.
