Hull City looking to land PSV defender

Hull City are looking to land PSV Eindhoven’s Jordy de Wijs according to a report from Dutch publication Voetbal International via Football Oranje.

The Tigers have lost one centre-back this summer with the veteran Michael Dawson heading to Sky Bet Championship rivals Nottingham Forest. They need to replace him ahead of what is going to be a tough season where Hull hope to get back involved in the battle for promotion. And it seems like they are sending the ferry out to find their new transfer as they look over the North Sea to their target.

They are interested in signing de Wijs who appears to be on his way out of PSV. He came through their academy after being signed from RKC Waalwijk but has struggled to break into their first team, making just one appearance for them. He has instead been stuck in their reserve side Jung PSV and has also had two loan spells with Excelsior. And with de Wijs still being nowhere near the PSV first team and only a year being left on his contract, a departure this summer is likely.

At first, it seemed like de Wijs was going to Italy as Perugia seemed to be the only team interested in. But now Hull have joined the race and will be hoping for him to cross the North Sea to another famous port town. Being a side likely to be in the race for promotion, they may be able to use the potential of playing in the Premier League to beat Perugia to his signature.
