Another ‘keeper linked to Nottingham Forest?

The Nottingham Post have reported that Aitor Karanka may be looking to add another goalkeeper to his arsenal, despite the signing of Costel Pantilimon from Watford earlier this week.

It is rumoured that Benfica’s 23-year-old shot stopper Bruno Varela could be the next man to make the move to Nottingham Forest in the coming weekes.

Given the fact that Varela is a Portuguese U21 International and has made 29 appearances for the Portuguese club last season means that a permanent deal may be hard to pull off for various reasons, but the promotion of Mile Svilar to Benfica’s number one could mean a loan for the youngster with a view to a permanent deal could happen.

The move makes sense, considering Forest’s relationship with the Portuguese giants, having already signed Joao Carvalho for a club record fee and Diogo Goncalves on a season-long loan.

Aitor Karanka isn’t waiting around this transfer window, with Lewis Grabban also believed to be Forest-bound from Bournemouth.

Finally, a reason for Forest fans to be excited, a proven manager bringing in quality players, is exactly what fans have been waiting for after a less than convincing few seasons in the Championship’s bottom half.

If Karanka’s side can not only continue their excellent business but keep hold of key players such as Barry McKay and Ben Osborn, then Forest fans have reason to be excited about the forthcoming season

Nottingham Forest have assumed the status of a sleeping giant in the Championship over recent seasons but may just cause a few shocks this season, if their early window dealings are anything to go off, you can certainly expect to see Forest near the top half come May.
