Sunderland complete long-awaited capture of Hibernian midfielder

Sky Bet League One-bound club Sunderland have finally completed the signing of out of contract Hibernian midfielder Dylan McGeouch according to the Daily Record.

The 25-year-old Glasgow-born midfield ace saw his contract at Easter Road come to an end on Saturday and the player has now completed the move to Wearside as expected.

At this stage, the length of the contract signed by McGeouch at Sunderland is unknown but the player is expected to play a major role for the club in the upcoming season as The Black Cats plot a route back to the Sky Bet Championship.

McGeouch was on the books of Glasgow giants Celtic in the early days of his career but made just a handful of senior outings for The Bhoys. The midfielder joined Hibernian on an initial loan deal in August 2014 and the Leith-based club opted to make the move permanent 12 months later.

Since his move to Easter Road, McGeouch has gone on to become one of the stars of the Hibs side with the player making 121 appearances and scoring four goals. The midfielder helped the club to their first Scottish Cup final victory in 114 years in 2016 while he was a Ladbrokes Championship promotion winner in green and white the following year.

McGeouch made the step up to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership with ease last season while his good performances at club level resulted in the player making his Scotland debut against Peru in May.
