Rotherham United confirm double signing of Blackpool defender and striker

Rotherham United have signed Clark Robertson and Kyle Vassell from Blackpool as confirmed by the club website.

Ever since the Millers confirmed their promotion to the Sky Bet Championship with their play-off final win over Shrewsbury Town, the fans have been excited to see who they were going to sign for their return to the second tier. And they will be very happy to see that they have opened up their transfer window by signing two players from Blackpool with both Robertson and Vassell signing three-year contracts with the club.

Robertson started his career in Scotland with Aberdeen before moving down to Blackpool in 2015. Since then he has been an integral part of the first team and was a key part of the side that got promoted to Sky Bet League One in 2017. Vassell has played for several clubs including the likes of Peterborough United, Sutton United and Chelmsford City before landing with Blackpool in 2016. During his time at the seaside he has scored 19 goals in 54 appearances.

And now both have signed for Rotherham with head coach Paul Warne being delighted about the move. When asked about Robertson, he said: “I think he’s a really good acquisition and I know that other clubs were after him,”

“We’ve had numerous conversations with him and his agent and we’re pleased to get it over the line.”

“He’s at an age where he wants to step up a level and he’s got ambitions to try and get into the full national squad and he’ll have a chance of doing that playing in the Championship.”

“I’ve always liked him and I met him and his dad, who flew down to meet me, which shows me his commitment.”
