More details revealed about Nottingham Forest’s move for Patrick Bamford

Nottingham Forest have not made an £8m bid for Middlesbrough’s Patrick Bamford according to a report from the Nottingham Post.

Over the weekend there were several reports that Forest had made a large seven figure bid for Bamford. With Forest spending a lot of money this summer in an attempt to get promoted to the Premier League and Karanka being familiar with Bamford from their time together at Middlesbrough, it seemed like an obvious fit and that this report was true.

However a further report from the local media has said that there is yet to be any approach from Forest for the former Chelsea striker. While there is a definite strong interest from the East Midlands side, there is yet to be a bid for him. This may be because that Forest want to see what happens with the move for El Arbi Hillel Soudani, which appears close to completion, before making an offer to see how high they would go for someone who has torn up the Sky Bet Championship in the past.

Of course this means that a bid of some sort is likely to come in the next few weeks even if this report says it hasn’t happened yet. It does seem like Forest are throwing everything at this season in an attempt to get promoted to the Premier League after almost two decades of being out of the top tier. But they may have to be a bit wary as their Midlands rivals Aston Villa show that this tactic can go very wrong very quickly.
