Mansfield Town set to beat Lincoln City to signing of Nottingham Forest striker

Mansfield Town are set to beat Lincoln City to the signing of Nottingham Forest’s Tyler Walker according to a report from the Nottingham Post.

Walker, who is the son of England international Des, has been a highly rated striker in the Forest academy for many years now but he has never been able to make the break through into their first team. And with the 21-year-old striker coming off his fourth loan spell away from the club, a stint with Bolton Wanderers, it appears that he might be on his way out of the City Ground for good.

This has led to a mass of teams being interested in Walker including the likes of Mansfield and Lincoln with both sides willing to make him one of the highest paid players in Sky Bet League Two. But despite the best efforts of the Imps, it appears that he will be staying in Nottinghamshire and heading to Mansfield in what will be seen as one of the coups of the season.

The report from the Nottingham Post does indicate that they are unsure of whether this will be a permanent or temporary deal and with his contract set to run until 2021, it may well be the latter. But Walker could well be getting frustrated that all he consistently gets sent out on loan without much hope of the Forest first team and could ask for a permanent move to Mansfield. Cameron McGeehan made a success of himself when he did something similar after forcing a move to Luton Town from Norwich City.
