Chelsea youngster talks positively following Ipswich move

Chelsea youngster Trevoh Chalobah “can’t wait to get going” with his new team, he revealed in an interview with the Club Website.

Chalobah’s move to Portman Road was confirmed yesterday and having experienced one day’s training with the Blues, the 18-year-old is looking forward for the upcoming Sky Bet Championship campaign with the Tractor Boys.

Having signed a first professional contract with Chelsea in June 2016, the 18-year-old was keen for a move away from Stamford Bridge due to his desire to obtain his first real taste of senior football, and Portman Road was announced as his chosen destination – ahead of fellow-Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers – after recently visiting the Tractor Boys’ Playford Road training base to meet first team boss Paul Hurst.

The 18-year-old, who was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s FA Cup final triumph in May, is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the London Club.

But for Chalobah, the England U16, U17 and U19 representative is keen to impress in the second tier of English football.

“I’m delighted to be here,” Trevoh told the Club website.

“It’s my first loan and I’m really excited. It’s a great club and I’m ready for the season already.

“It’s important for me, being a young age, that I come here to learn and grow as a player as the year goes on.

“It will be good to get to know the boys in pre-season and Luke Chambers has already brought me into the group so I can’t wait to get going.”
