West Brom reject £12m bid for defender

West Bromwich Albion have rejected a £12m bid for Craig Dawson from Premier League side West Ham United, according to The Telegraph.

The Baggies look set to lose their star defender following the clubs relegation to the second tier, but Darren Moore is fighting to keep hold of the former England U21 International.

It had been reported that Dawson was set to hand in a transfer request in order to force a move away from The Hawthorns.

However, The Midlanders have rejected a big money move from the Hammers.

It is understood that the recently relegated club rate their defender at £20m and are unwilling to sell at a lower price.

Burnley have also had a bid turned down for the defender, as they embark on their first season in Europe.

Dawson joined the club in 2010 from Rochdale for an undisclosed fee and the versatile defender put pen to paper on a three year deal with the club.

During his time with Albion, he has made 153 appearances in the Premier League, where he has netted on 12 occasions.

Despite West Brom having a poor campaign last season, Dawson was a consistent performer for the club and he is a wanted man this summer.

Darren Moore is yet to make any new signings since assuming the position as first team manager, and is unwilling to let some of his players go until he has a replacement sorted.

Dawson made 3 appearances for Team GB at the 2012 Olympics and has been capped by the England U21’S 15 times.

Dawson is a man in demand, but the Baggies remain unmoved in their stance – they won’t sell for anything less than their £20m valuation.
