Leeds United to rival Premier League clubs for Hull forward

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Jarrod Bowen has been the subject of interest from Premier League clubs Everton and Newcastle, and Leeds are also looking at the possibility of bringing the prospect to Elland Road.

The 21 year-old can play anywhere across the front three, with right wing being his preferred position. Bowen’s versatility would provide Marcelo Bielsa with an option to place the forward either out wide or as a striker. Bielsa’s 3-3-3-1 formation also requires energetic wingers to help defend – another strength of Bowen.

Bowen made 42 Championship appearances last season, scoring 14 goals as The Tigers finished 18th under Nigel Adkins. His efforts were rewarded at the club’s end of season awards dinner, where he won Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year.

If the Yorkshire club could pull off the signing of Bowen it would be the perfect start to Bielsa’s reign. Being able to fend off Premier League opposition would be a bold statement of intent. Bowen is likely to favour a move to the Premier League to test his abilities amongst the best. But the Leominster-born man may value regular game time at Leeds over possibly bench-warming in the Premier League.

However, Leeds may be priced out of a move for the 14 goal forward. Everton remain the favourites to secure the signing of Bowen. Everton are willing to pay £12m to bring him to Goodison Park – a fee Leeds would be unlikely to match. The Yorkshire Evening Post reported Leeds were looking at making a £4.5m bid, three times less than the fee the Merseyside team are willing to pay.
