Rotherham United want to sign Fleetwood Town’s Cian Bolger according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.
The Millers returned to the Sky Bet Championship at the first time of asking after they beat Shrewsbury Town in the Sky Bet League One play-off final last season. But they are determined to stay in the Championship this time and not end up being a yo-yo club. And their head coach Paul Warne is looking to improve the defence to make it tough for any opposition attacks to break through.
And he is eyeing up a move for Bolger who currently plays his football for Fleetwood. The 26-year-old defender has been a key player for the Cod Army ever since he signed for them in 2016 from Southend United. Last season he made 49 appearances, scoring six goals as Fleetwood finished in a safe mid-table spot. But now he could end up moving to the second tier with Rotherham being interested in signing him.
However it may be tricky for Rotherham to bring Bolger to South Yorkshire. With Fleetwood having a decent amount of money themselves, they are likely to demand a big fee to try and put off any team from signing one of their prized assets. The Millers are currently unsure if they want to stump up a fee for a player that has not been proven at the Championship level but if they are big enough fans of the player, they may end up deciding he is worth it after all.
