Vydra and Leeds has progressed but work still to be done – Alien fee

Leeds and Matej Vydra would be the biggest deal in over 15 years at the club. A fee of around £11 million has been mentioned and that is alien to Leeds fans, but this still has a course to run and whether Leeds will up it that much is anyone’s guess but progress is being made.

The story rumbles on and if you haven’t noticed then Leeds number one target has become Matej Vydra. Not only that but Leeds are now actually chasing Lewis Grabban as well, not as well as. The top and second top scorer from last season are in view for Leeds but whether they do one or the other, or both remains to be seen…or none. For me Vydra is a class above and without people to really supply Grabban he may struggle at Leeds. The fact the wages wouldn’t be a problem is great news.

The news that there is progression with Vydra is good and it seems a little like the situation with Marcelo Bielsa recently. It seemed to be going on and on and we kept hearing from the likes of Phil Hay is was progressing and it was progressing and although we want things done and done now it was worth the wait, is this the same sort of deal? A fee of £11 million is the issue and you can see why, Leeds will want to bring that down as much as possible.

Vydra isn’t a number 9, but he probably isn’t a number 10 either. He’s a striker but he will drop in and make things happen, linking up and moving into wide areas to get on the ball. let’s settle with a false 9 role. Leeds haven’t had someone like that for some time and if we were to pay £10 million (ish) I don’t think many would raise eyebrows for the fact Vydra cost that, just that it was Leeds who actually paid it.
