Sunderland closing in on deal to sign out of contract Hibernian midfielder

Sky Bet League One-bound club Sunderland are understood to be closing in on a deal to sign out of contract Hibernian midfielder Dylan McGeouch according to the Edinburgh Evening News.

The 25-year-old Glasgow-born midfield ace has long been expected to leave Easter Road with a move to the English Football League being the most likely outcome.

A number of Sky Bet Championship and Sky Bet League One clubs are thought to have been tracking the player and it has now been revealed that new Sunderland boss Jack Ross has held positive talks with McGeouch over a move to The Stadium of Light.

Ross is well aware of McGeouch’s quality with the former St Mirren boss having witnessed the midfielder’s talents first hand for Hibernian when the two clubs were both competing in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship. During his time at Easter Road, McGeouch’s career has gone from strength-to-strength with the player helping the Hibees to promotion from the second tier in 2016/2017 and as well as winning the William Hill Scottish Cup with the club in 2016.

During the second half of last season, the player highlighted his intention to leave Hibernian. A move to Blackburn Rovers was thought to be on the horizon, however, it looks as though Sunderland could move to sign the talented midfielder who won his first senior international cap for Scotland earlier this year.
