Everton willing to offer Middlesbrough a swap deal

According to SportsLens, Everton are reportedly prepared to offer Middlesbrough a swap deal that sees Ben Gibson move to Goodison Park and Toffees midfielder Mo Besic move in the other direction.

Marco Silva reportedly wants to find a reliable centre-half to partner Michael Keane in the heart of the Everton defence and with Gibson being young, having Premier League experience and also being relatively cheap, the Premier League side want to take him back into the top-flight and are prepared to sacrifice Besic to make the signing.

The Bosnian midfielder failed to really catch the eye at Goodison Park last year and with Everton having a relative abundance of central midfielders, Silva sees Besic as surplus to requirements for next season.

Middlesbrough would be losing their highly talented centre-half if they were to agree a deal, but at the same time they’d also be gaining a Premier League midfielder – so a deal would benefit all.

Additionally, a move for Gibson could give young centre-back Dael Fry the chance to stake his claim in Middlesbrough’s starting line-up as a regular fixture. The impressive defender has worked his way into Aidy Boothroyd’s England Under-21 squad and will want to impress on a regular basis in the Championship next season.

Although Gibson’s departure wouldn’t be ideal for Boro’ fans, it would give young Fry an opportunity to stake his claim as one of the better centre-halfs in the dvision nad would give them an opportunity to enhance and develop another young centre-backs career.
