The Derby Telegraph is reporting that Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Nikola Vukčević from Braga in Portugal.
The defensive midfielder has made 124 appearances for Portuguese side Braga and is now being linked with a move to the Championship to join up with Aitor Karanka’s side for the upcoming season.
Forest broke their transfer record just the other week, by capturing the signature of Joao Carvalho on a deal thought to be worth around £13.2 million and also managed to sign Benfica’s Diogo Goncalves on a loan-deal, with hope of the option to purchase the striker on a permanent basis if he is successful in a Forest shirt this season.
The club are supposedly looking once again towards Portugal to sure up their midfield, with Montenegran international Vukčević linked with swapping Braga for Britain as early as next week.
The defensive midfielder’s proposed move to Nottingham Forest would once again highlight how successful – and quick the club have been to secure new recruits in the transfer market this season.
They’ve managed to convince two high profile signings in Carvalho and Goncalves and the signature of the Braga midfielder would further solidifiy their status as promotion contenders, rather than Play-Off hopefuls.
With Nottingham Forest’s desire to spend big and hopefully reap the rewards this season, it shows how the Championship club have become increasingly more ambitious in recent seasons, after dawdling around mid-table in the last few years.
This season may be make or break for Nottingham Forest, but it certainly promises to be an exciting one.
