“Leeds and Vydra getting serious”

Leeds pursuit of Matej Vydra could have been laughed off a couple of weeks ago but it’s become clear that one, Leeds have the money to do something, two, he is clearly interested in the move and three, talks are serious. Alan Nixon has tweeted tonight that things are getting very serious.

Leeds have now been chasing Vydra for a few weeks and it seems like we genuinely believe the deal is possible. For a nice change the club are in a position where they can take advantage of another club in financial difficulty. Derby are in no sorry state but they do have to slash the wage budget and selling Vydra would bring in a big fee, but it may be too big for Leeds by the sounds of it.

Leeds fans probably wouldn’t be annoyed if Vydra didn’t come but, probably just frustrated that such a good player is out of our reach. At the fees mentioned it does seem bizarre we are still in negotiations but at £10-£12 million that is a high price to pay for a club who’s highest fee in over a decade is £4.5 million.

Leeds are also in talks with Abel Hernandez as well as chasing another player if Vydra doesn’t come off. Things need to be building quicker in terms of recruitment because there hasn’t been one through the door yet. Pre-season is on the horizon and times are exciting but it’s getting to the point where movement in needed.

Bielsa arrives in Leeds this weekend and takes his first pre-season training session on Monday, the same day he’s meeting the media. He will want deals done fast, what Bielsa wants, Bielsa gets by the sounds of things.
