Five things to know about Leeds United target Phil Foden

Leeds United have the option to sign Manchester City’s Phil Foden this summer, as reported by The72 earlier today. Here are five things to know about him-

1. Joined Manchester City at the age of 8- Phil Foden was born in Stockport and was snapped up by Manchester City at the age of 8. He then rose through the youth ranks at the Etihad Stadium and also has represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level.

2. Made debut in Champions League- Foden was handed his Manchester City debut in November 2017 in a Champions League game against Feyenoord. He came on as a second -half substitute for Yaya Toure in the 75th minute.

3. Youngest ever Premier League winner- The 18-year-old became the youngster ever player to receive a Premier League title winner’s medal when City won it last May. He also won the League Cup last season with the Blues.

4. Won the Under-17 World Cup- Foden was a key part of the England Under-17s side who won the World Cup in 2017. He also won the Golden Ball for the tournament and impressed many, including Manchester City manager Pep Guardioula who went onto include Foden last season on the back of the World Cup.

5. BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year- He won this particular award in 2017 and this shows what a promising young  talent he is, on and off the pitch. If Leeds are able to loan him for next season, he would be a very exciting signing for them.
