Leicester City confirmed the signing of Norwich City superstar James Madison today for a record fee received by a Championship club. The Canaries fans are understanbly sad to see their main man leave, but were full of praise for the 21 year old.
Maddison joined the club in 2016 during the January transfer window, but the Yellows immediately loaned him back out to his boyhood club Coventry City, following his £3m move.
In his first full season at Carrow Road, the attacking midfielder found himself on loan at Aberdeen, where he began to make a name for himself at Pittodrie.
He made his debut for Norwich on the final day of the 16/17 season, where he scored in a 3-1 win over Preston at Deepdale.
He impressed Norwich boss Daniel Farke during pre season last summer and the German boss had no hesitation in throwing him in to the first team.
He made 41 appearances for Norwich last season, where he scored 15 goals from midfield and recorded 11 assists.
His direct play and attacking flair are key aspects to his game and if he can continue that with Leicester he will become a star in the top flight.
Speculation surrounding his future has been rife this summer, with multiple Premier League clubs chasing his signature.
However, it is Leicester who have won the race to sign the former Coventry man, with location being a key reason as to why he put pen to paper on a 5 year deal at the King Power Stadium.
He became a big fan favourite during his time in Norfolk, and here is what the Norwich faithful had to say about his departure:
It's rare in the modern game for a player to leave with so much goodwill from the vast majority of fans. Can't wait to see him play for England and we can all say we saw him play for us! All the very best #Maddison #ncfc

Odds on Norwich getting relegated this season… Think the team is going to struggle without Maddison! He carried Norwich all season. Not many players in the team that play for the badge anymore #ncfc @JackReeveTNC @michaeljbailey

Yes it’s sad to see him go. But wishing @Madders10 all the best. Good move for him. Money in the bank for NCFC. He will go right to the top. In the England team in the next few years. Top talent #ncfc #maddison

I don't know about you, but it's not often you get a player at your football club like James Maddison. Exciting to watch, great attitude, hard worker. Such a shame we only got to see him for such a short time. #ncfc

It’s been a pleasure to watch such a gifted footballer play for my club. Maddison has certainly restored my faith in young footballers with his attitude. If he keeps it up he will play for England. Thanks @Madders10, go smash it lad. #ncfc #lcfc

Good luck to James Maddison (@Madders10) at Leicester. The most exciting young player Norwich have had in 20 years and I can't wait for him to show the Premier League what all the fuss is about! #ncfc
