Out of contract St Mirren striker Gavin Reilly could join Sky Bet League One club Plymouth Argyle on a free transfer according to reports by the Plymouth Herald.
The 25-year-old Dumfries-born hotshot netted an impressive 22 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for The Buddies this season but finds himself without a new deal at the Paisley 2021 Stadium for next term.
Reilly’s goals helped St Mirren to the 2017/2018 Ladbrokes Scottish Championship title. The player’s current deal with the club ends on 30 June and while former Saints boss Jack Ross had offered a new contract to Reilly, new manager Alan Stubbs has revoked the player’s offer.
With the striker set to become a free agent, it has been reported that Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams could offer Reilly the opportunity to move to Home Park as the club look to build on this season’s seventh place finish in Sky Bet League One.
Reilly started his career with Queen of the South where he netted 42 goals in 133 appearances. Unimpressive spells with both Hearts and Dunfermline Athletic followed before he joined current club St Mirren on a one-year deal last summer.
The player’s sensational season in Paisley is likely to leave him with several offers on the table this summer but current club St Mirren have shown that they are not prepared to wait for Reilly to make a decision on his future.
