Leeds United’s first transfer target under Bielsa is French left-back

The Mirror have reported that Leeds United are chasing their first transfer target under Marcelo Bielsa, French left-back Manuel Cabit of Ajaccio.

Bielsa will be aware of the best players in the French leagues, given the fact that his last job was with the French side Lille and he could use this knowledge in order to bring in a number of new signings to Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Cabit plays in Ligue 2 at the minute, but it is thought that he is being tracked by three other clubs alongside Leeds United with Lens, Metz and Montpellier being thought to track the defender.

Cabit only became a professional footballer relatively late in his career, signing for AC Ajaccio in July of 2016 and it is thought that the defender has grown from strength to strength since becoming professional in the last two years.

Leeds United are looking for a regular fixture at left-back after filling in the position with several utility players during last season, with Vernon Anita often deputising in the full-back spot with Laurens De Bock also making several appearances in the full-back position.

The West-Yorkshire club will want to bring in a number of players over the coming weeks to ensure that they are as strong as possible for next season and also that Head Coach Marcelo Bielsa has the best chance possible to spend with his new squad ahead of the upcoming Championship season. We’ll see if the Argentinian can convince the 25-year-old to move to Elland Road, or whether he will stay in France over the coming days.
