Could Nottingham Forest look to sign FC Porto goalkeeper?

Reliable journalist Alan Nixon tweeted to suggest that Jorge Mendes now sees Nottingham Forest as his new ‘project’ for the Championship – and this could really benefit Nottingham Forest in their search for a new goalkeeper for this upcoming season.

Porto Goalkeeper Jose Sa is another Jorge Mendes client and it’s quite possible that Forest could move to sign the goalkeeper for this upcoming season.

Sa has been an understudy to Iker Casillas during the last season and if the goalkeeper is to move to the City Ground, he could set himself as Forest’s Number One for the upcoming season.

There’s potential that Sa could move away from Porto, with the goalkeeper seemingly cutting a frustrated figure behind Iker Casillas with him only making 7 appearances in the Liga Portuguesa last season, potentially suggesting that the goalkeeper may want to move elsewhere for regular football.

Given the fact that Sa is represented by Mendes, a move to the City Ground isn’t impossible, however, the Bristol Post has reported that Romanian goalkeeper Costel Pantillimon has opened up talks with Nottingham Forest ahead of the new season.

Pantillimon spent last season on loan from Watford at the City Ground and it’s thought that he impressed during his spell with the Reds. Pantillimon will likely be a far cheaper option for Forest at 31 years of age, but at the same time, Sa would offer the potential to grow and develop as the clubs number one – if Forest make a move for him at the age of only 25.
