Nottingham Forest keen on loan deal for Premier League midfielder

Nottingham Forest are keen to re-sign Cardiff City midfielder Lee Tomlin on loan, according to the Nottingham Post.

The Reds were interested in bringing him to the City Ground on a permanent deal after he impressed on loan for them during the latter part of last season but it now appears another loan move is more likely.

Tomlin is not though to be in Cardiff City’s plans for next season as they look to prepare for life in the Premier League after their impressive promotion from the Championship under Neil Warnock.

The Bluebirds are expected to shift a number of players who are down their pecking order and Tomlin is likely to be one of them. The 29-year-old has played for Aitor Karanka at both Middlesbrough and Forest and could reunite with him once again over the coming weeks.

Tomlin is a well-known name in the Championship and is proven at this level. He started his career in non-league with Rushden & Diamonds and has since had spells at Peterborough United, Middlesbrough, AFC Bournemouth, Bristol City, Cardiff and Forest in a well-travelled playing career.

Nottingham Forest have had a busy past few weeks and their fans are excited for next season after signing Michael Dawson from Hull City and Benfica duo Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves. The return of Lee Tomlin could be next and this is more good news for the Forest faithful after he bagged 4 goals in 15 games for them in the last campaign.
