Moore, Rotherham United want Barnsley striker back at club

Rotherham United want Barnsley striker back at club

Rotherham United want to bring Barnsley’s Kieffer Moore back to the club according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon.

Moore started last season as an Ipswich player but with first team football looking unlikely there, he headed out on loan to Rotherham United. He would end up impressing while at the New York Stadium, scoring 13 goals in 22 appearances while there. This made him one of the highest scorers in Sky Bet League One and firmly established the Millers in the play-offs.

But with Moore impressing so much, Ipswich eyed a quick buck and decided to recall him in the January transfer window so they could sell him. While Rotherham were interested in signing him on a permanent deal, they were beaten out by their South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley who were able to offer more money for him. However their fortunes would then differ. While Rotherham would get promoted to the Sky Bet Championship after beating Shrewsbury Town in the play-off final, Barnsley ended up being relegated and will play in League One next season.

This has given Rotherham belief that they can bring Moore back to the club. While Moore did decently at Barnsley, he scored four goals in 20 appearances, they may be willing to sell him to their South Yorkshire rivals so they have a bit more cash to play with following their relegation. And for the Millers it is an excellent opportunity to bring back a player who became a firm fan favourite over his six months at the club.
