Nottingham Forest linked with Champions League FC Porto striker

It has emerged that Nottingham Forest are interested in FC Porto striker, Gonçalo Paciência, according to Nottingham Post. This is following the signings of Diogo Goncalves and Joao Carvalho.

The 23-year-old striker has been at FC Porto all of his career but for a few loan spells away from the club. He finally broke into the FC Porto first team in the second half of last season and, despite what his stats may suggest, he as impressed a lot at the Portuguese Champions.

The young striker played nine times for Porto last season, although seven of these appearances came from off the bench. He failed to score a goal in that time but did pick up an assist in a 2-1 win over their title rivals, Sporting CP. Paciência also featured in both Champions League last 16 legs against, eventual finalists, Liverpool. He failed to make any real impact but just being given the chance alone shows much FC Porto rate this young man.

Paciência is very much one for the future and a move to Nottingham Forest, along with his Portuguese counterparts in the form of Diogo Goncalves and Joao Carvalho, could be vital in the striker’s development.

FC Porto value Paciência at €7m. This equates to around £6.12m. This is a hefty fee for such a young player but there’s no denying that he does have some serious potential to go on and become a top player. Only time will tell if he is really worth the fee FC Porto demand for him.
