German side interested in signing Birmingham City midfielder

German club Vfl Bochum are interested in signing Birmingham City midfielder Robert Tesche on a permanent basis after impressing on loan last season, according to Liga Zwei.

The 31 year old joined the German side last season on a loan deal and he made 15 appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

Tesche joined the Blues on a three year deal in 2016, but has failed to nail down a regular starting spot since his move to St Andrews from Nottingham Forest.

He has one year left on his deal with Birmingham, but his time at the club appears to be over.

Blues boss Garry Monk has yet to see Tesche play for the club, so he may be given a chance to prove himself during pre-season.

The central midfielder has spent the majority of his career playing in Germany, and began his playing career with Arminia Bielefeld.

It appears that the 31 year old is set to return to his home Nation with Bochum on a permanent deal.

After narrowly avoiding relegation to League One on the final day of last season, Birmingham will be looking to craft a squad capable of challenging at the top half of the table and Monk may want to get Tesche off the wage bill to build his own side.

After being signed by Gary Rowett in 2016, Tesche has failed to establish himself at the Blues.

He looks set to depart the Midlands for Bochum this summer after making 36 appearances for the club over two spells at St Andrews.
