5 Championship strikers who could make a real impact this season

3. Adam Le Fondre – Cardiff City

Adam Le FondreI am personally a big fan of Adam Le Fondre he has all the attributes to be a top striker at this level. Pacey, skilful and an eye for goal, it’s no wonder he finished as Reading’s top goal scorer last season. The Berkshire club brought Le Fondre from League 1 side Rotherham United in August 2011, for a fee around £350,000. Since then, he has become a real talisman for the Royals, netting 39 times in 104 appearances. Although that record may seem somewhat modest, it is key to consider a large proportion of those appearances were made in the Premier League and also as a substitute. Reading’s last two managers have both used Le Fondre off the bench rather than as a starter and the forward has been labelled as more of an impact player. However, now his move to Cardiff City is complete he will have the chance to remove this label. The Bluebirds are the bookmaker’s favourites to take the Championship title and Le Fondre will play a vital part in making this happen. So the striker now has an opportunity to fire Cardiff back to the big time and also a realistic chance of playing Premier League football once again in the near future.
