5 Championship strikers who could make a real impact this season

2. Ross McCormack – Fulham

Ross McCormackVastly experienced at this level, Ross McCormack would certainly be at the top of almost any championship team’s wish list. The Scottish international was the league’s top goal scorer last term, making the net bulge an impressive 28 times. Ask any Leeds United fan and they will tell you that McCormack was the only bright spark in an otherwise gloomy campaign last time out. In fact his goals were probably the difference between a mid-table finish and a relegation scrap. United signed McCormack from Cardiff City for a fee around £350,000 in 2010. Previous to this, he was with Cardiff in the Championship from 2008. Over the course of his time with Leeds, the supporters loved and adored McCormack and he openly acknowledged the bond he had with the fans. As well as this, he had a close relationship with manager Brian McDermott in the player’s penultimate season in West Yorkshire. For some, the writing for McCormack’s departure was on the wall when McDermott was sacked from Elland Road at the end of the season. Newly relegated Fulham stepped in with an £11 million bid for the Scott. An offer Leeds, were in no position to turn down. So the question is can McCormack shake off that huge price tag by helping the Londoners gain promotion?
