The wait will soon be over for patient Leeds United fans, Marcelo Bielsa will soon be theirs according to the Twitter account of César Luis Merlo, an Argentinian journalist attached to TyC Sports in Buenos Aire.
United fans have been waiting since the sacking of Paul Heckingbottom just shy of two weeks ago for a new hand to guide them through the swamp that is the Sky Bet Championship.
With these fans expecting another nearly man brought in, the latest in a long line of those, it came as a huge surprise that the Whites were in the hunt for the innovative Marcelo Bielsa.
If his name was not an instant dripping from their lips, a quick Internet search would have had these fans salivating like Pavlov’s Dogs at his CV. Former Argentina manager, check! Former Chile manager, check!. Two Word Cup finals, check! This was definitely not your run-of-the-mill potential appointment that Whites’ fans have come to expect.
This is the appointment of a man who is highly regarded by some of the best known coaches in the business, coaches like current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
Both Leeds United and Bielsa are in the end-game of discussions with only the fine details to iron out. Earlier this evening BBC Radio Leeds’ Adam Pope said that United had a draft contract from Bielsa and that the ball was in their court.
Now Argentina-based Merlo goes a step further with this tweet (below):
Marcelo Bielsa vuelve a dirigir. Firmará por un año con opción a renovar por otro con el Leeds. Será oficial una vez que se terminen de revisar los contratos. Vía @TyCSports pic.twitter.com/8Emhs7hPzS

Here Merlo not only says that fellow Argentinian Bielsa is ready to move to Leeds United, he goes a step further with some details. He adds the following fineries that Bielsa “will sign for one year with the option for another with Leeds.”
Until the ink is dried, and Bielsa unveiled, Leeds United fans will have to content themselves with both patience and the comfort provided by elements such as these dripfeeding through.
