Derby County

Young England International linked with Derby County – reaction

Derby County manager Frank Lampard is already looking to use his relationship with his former club Chelsea to land Jay Dasilva, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 20-year-old left wing back caught the attention of Lampard whilst in action for England Under 21s against Mexico.

Derby are not the only club interested in Dasilva. Two unnamed Premier League clubs are also reportedly sniffing around the heels of the defender who has returned to Chelsea. It is likely that Derby will be looking for a loan deal for Dasilva, rather than a permanent one.

Despite his young age, Dasilva has already gained plenty of experience in senior football. He has had two different loan spells with Charlton Athletic, managing 48 appearances across both.

He impressed during last season and was voted Charlton Athletic’s fans’ player of the year. The Addicks are interested in having Dasilva return to The Valley, however they will have to join the queue.

The Rams already have Craig Forsyth, Marcus Olsson and Max Lowe as left-back options. However, the Derby faithful seem uninspired by their current defensive options with some calling for the likes of Forsyth to be sold.

Dasilva would be a positive signing that would be appreciated by the fan base, who have endured yet another season of disappointment in the Play-Offs. The new Derby manager is yet to make a signing since his arrival but it has been reported that his close relationship with Chelsea could help him to edge the deal above other clubs.
