It has emerged this evening that Premier League side Fulham have made an £8m bid for Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew. This is according to Sky Sports News reporter, Kaveh Solhekol.

Jordan Ayew has been very inconsistent of late and scored just seven goals in 36 appearances for the relegated Swans last season. The 26-year-old also only managed measly two assists in that time.

It’s fair to say the Ayew certainly isn’t the greatest striker available to Fulham right now. £8m for a striker who only managed seven goals last season just seems completely ridiculous by all means. It’s not even just last season where Ayew’s been consistently poor. In the 2016/17 season, he made 21 Championship appearances for Aston Villa and scored just two goals and made only four assists. He then moved onto Swansea in the same season and bagged himself just one goal and three assists in 14 appearances.

£8m is just too high of a fee for such a low-quality player. Fulham can do a lot better than Jordan Ayew, especially given how much talent there is out there. Newly promoted sides need that prolific striker in their sides to score them the majority of the goals they need to stay up.  Given that Ayew nearly has as many yellow cards as goals during his time in England, he just won’t give them that.
