Stoke City midfielder joins Huddersfield Town

Stoke City winger Ramadan Sobhi has joined Premier League side Huddersfield Town for a fee of £5.7m, signing a three year deal with the Terriers.

The 21 year old joined the Potters in 2016 from Al Ahly for £5m.

During his two year spell at the Bet365 Stadium, Sobhi made 41 league appearances for the club, scoring two goals.

He scored his first goal in English football last December, as he scored in a 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion.

He put in a number of impressive performances for Stoke last season, but it wasn’t enough to help save the club from relegation to the second tier.

Huddersfield made sure they kept their Premier League status in tact with a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last campaign.

Sobhi is a player with Premier League experience and will challenge the likes of Tom Ince and Rajiv Van La Parra for a starting spot in David Wagner’s side.

Speaking to the club website, Wagner said: “He’s a real talent and has achieved a lot for a player who is only 21 years old, playing over 20 times for his country ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

“He’s skilful, direct and very quick-thinking. He still has a lot of space to improve too, which is very exciting!”

The midfielder has been capped 19 times by the Egyptian National side, scoring one goal for his country.

There is set to be a number of key players leaving Stoke City this summer, and Sobhi is the first name out of the door at the Bet365.
