Will there ever be an end to discussions with Marcelo Bielsa? There has to be and it’s coming very soon, whether that is good news or bad news.
The appointment of Marcelo Bielsa would certainly kick Leeds into action in the transfer market as Phil Hay points out and it’s coming to a point where we need to make moves with or without Bielsa. A deal is expected to happen or collapse within the next 24 hours and Leeds second choice Matías Almeyda is now a free agent after leaving his current job in Mexico.
The links tonight are players who would certainly add quality to the Leeds United ranks and both are players who have experienced Championship football and would fit into a style of play Leeds seem to be going for (with Bielsa and Almeyda).
John Egan is a very talented centre-back and currently the Brentford captain. He is a ball player who can do a bit of everything and as we know with the Bees they are built around a team of footballers. Egan may well become the option of Bielsa takes over because he likes defenders to play out from the back, Bartley isn’t necessarily that style of player, Egan definitely is.
The other player linked is Harry Wilson, a young winger at Liverpool. You may recognise the name because he made an impact at Hull City whilst on loan. Quick and tricky he really showed what he was capable of but that might be a negative as Leeds can’t offer Premier League football. Liverpool may want him playing on a regular basis though and that would favour a Championship club most probably.
