Journalist – Leeds hope to confirm Bielsa in next 24 hours

Are we on the brink of appointing the highest paid coach in the history of Leeds United? According to one U.K. journalist the club want to appoint Marcelo Bielsa in the next 24 hours, and that coincides with time frames.

A deal between Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa has been on the cards for over two weeks now. The media first got hold of the story more recently and now time has ticked until it can’t go much further. Marcelo Bielsa simply has to decide whether he’s taking the job now because he wants to start pre-season on Monday if he does.

The club have been waiting on Bielsa to decide before they try to finalise signings and that has began to cause issues with other clubs coming in for players, we have already seen this with Abel Hernandez who is now considering a move to Turkey if reports are to be believed.

It’s been a summer of change for the club as Paul Heckingbottom was sacked and Andrea Radrizzani has lifted the £15k per week wage system that was in place, allowing Orta to chase bigger names. Abel Hernandez, Kyle Bartley, Angus Gunn and David Stockdale have all been linked as has a £10 million bid for Matej Vydra in the last few days. The level of ambition hasn’t gone up a notch or two it’s gone up serious levels, but things have to get done now.

Leeds do have other options, one of which is in South America so Orta, who we assume is still currently in Argentina could well be eyeing up the alternative options. Leeds need to sort a deal out fast for someone, the World Cup is about to start and that poses its own problems as well. It seems like a decision, either way is imminent for Bielsa.
