Stoke City have signed Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo, as confirmed by their official club website.
The 22-year-old has become Gary Rowett’s first signing of the summer and they paid around £6.35 million to bring him to the Championship from Feirense.
The Potters are building a squad to mount a promotion push next season as they look to get an immediate return to the Premier League. The signing of Etebo is likely to be one of a few new signings for Stoke over the coming weeks.
Etebo spent the latter part last season on loan at La Liga side Las Palmas and played 14 games for them. He started his career with Nigerian side Warri Wolves before he was snapped up by Portuguese side Feirense in 2016. He played 50 games for Feirense during his two-and-a-half seasons at the club.
Stoke fans will get the chance to watch Etebo at the World Cup in Russia. The midfielder has got 13 caps for the Nigeria national team and is hoping to get some more game time at the tournament this summer.
