Wolves lead Monaco in pursuit of Portuguese striker

Wolverhampton Wanderers are the current favourites to secure the signing of AC Milan and Portugal striker Andre Silva.

The recently crowned Sky Bet Championship winners have been linked with a move for the AC Milan front man for a number of weeks now, and Sky Bet have given them odds of 3/1 to secure his signature this summer.

They currently lead French Ligue 1 side Monaco in the race for the 22-year-old, with the French side being given odds of 6/1.

It has been the worst kept secret in football that Wolves are chasing a striker this summer after they confirmed their return to England’s top flight.

They blitzed the Sky Bet Championship, winning the league with 99 points, only missing out on the illustrious 100 points due to a defeat on the final day of the season.

Nuno Santo knows that the squad needs strengthening in order to compete in the Premier League, and his number one priority appears to be a striker.

Benfica and Mexico striker Raul Jimenez appears to be edging ever closer to securing a season long loan deal with the Black Country club, but Santo is expected to bring in at least one other striker to compete with him.

And Andre Silva could be his man. The AC Milan striker is currently with the Portugal squad preparing for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, so Wolves may have to wait a while to get hold of their man, but he could be well worth the wait.

Andre Silva joined AC Milan last summer for a fee believed to be in the region of 38 million euros after impressing the year before at the European Championships with Portugal, who won the competition.
