Leeds United, Stoke City and Bristol City target set to sign new contract with Manchester United

Bristol City, Leeds United and Stoke City have been dealt a blow as target Dean Henderson is set to sign a new contract with Manchester United according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper captured everyone’s attentions this season with his loan spell at Shrewsbury Town. He was one of their best performers, holding down the fort in goal while the rest of the team shocked everyone by pushing the Shrews to the brink of promotion in Sky Bet League One. However Henderson wasn’t able to get them promoted after they lost to Rotherham United in the play-off final.

But with there being reports that Henderson was frustrated at the lack of opportunities at Manchester United, several teams were interested in signing him. Leading the race were Bristol City and Leeds United though other reports have indicated that the likes of Stoke City, Fulham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Roma were also in the race to sign him.

But any team hoping to make Henderson one of their players is set to be hit with a big blow. Despite those misgivings, the goalkeeper is set to sign a two-year deal with the option of another year which could keep him at Old Trafford at 2021. But a move for him could still be possible. With first team football at Manchester United still being out of the picture, they are willing to loan him out so he can be a regular somewhere. Now it’s up to Leeds and Bristol City to see if they still want to sign him on loan rather than the permanent deal they were hoping for.
