Released Everton striker Calum Dyson is expected to sign a contract with Sky Bet League One promotion hopefuls Plymouth Argyle according to reports by the Plymouth Herald.

The 21-year-old Fazakerley-born frontman was on the books at Goodison Park for 15 years but has been released by The Toffees after failing to break into the first team.

Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams has long been an admirer of the young striker and it has now been reported that Dyson is likely to join The Pilgrims as a free agent this summer as he looks to launch his senior career.

Dyson leaves Merseyside without making a single first team outing for Everton. The youngster has been a regular for the club’s Under-18 side and Development Squad but was unable to stake a claim for a first team place.

During loan spells with Stockport County, Chester and Grimsby Town, Dyson netted seven goals in 28 senior outings.

The player was originally linked with a move to Home Park last summer after winning the 2016/2017 Grimsby Town Young Player of the Year award but a move did not materialise. Dyson is expected to now  be offered a deal by Arygle as the club look to finally acquire his services.
