Aston Villa, No Aston Villa return for long-serving frontman

No Aston Villa return for long-serving frontman

Out of contract Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor will not be returning to Villa Park next month according to reports by Birmingham Live.

Crisis club Villa are in desperate need to slash the wage budget after failing to win promotion to the English Premier League and The Mirror had reported that released frontman Agbonlahor could return to Villa Park  to fill the void left by the expected high profile departures.

It is now believed that the door is firmly closed on a return to Villa for Agbonlahor and the player will need to choose from one of several offers to determine where he will be playing his football next season. It is thought that some of those offers could be from clubs in both the United States and China, however, at this stage, it is unclear whether the striker would favour move overseas.

Agbonlahor had spent his entire career as a Villa player prior to his release this summer. After short loan spells with Watford and Sheffield Wednesday, the academy graduate went on to star in claret and blue for well over a decade. The striker leaves Villa after making 391 appearances in which he scored 86 goals.

During his time at Villa, Agbonlahor was a finalist in both domestic cups while he was called up to play for England squad on three occasions.
