Bury agree huge pre-season fixture against Rangers at Ibrox

Relegated Sky Bet League One club Bury have agreed a huge fixture in pre-season as they travel to Ibrox to face Glasgow giants Rangers.

The Gers announced the friendly fixture on their official website this morning with Steven Gerrard’s side set to welcome The Shakers on Friday 6 July for a 7.15pm kick-off.

The match will see new Rangers manager Gerrard will take charge of the Scottish Premiership club for the first time on an occasion which promises to attract a sizeable five-figure crowd. A night of firsts will also see The Gers take on Bury for the very first time in their 146-year history.

Rangers face The Shakers so early in their pre-season schedule as a result of their involvement in the UEFA Europa League. Gerrard’s men begin their European adventure in the qualifying rounds in the second week of July.

Bury will play their football in the fourth tier of the English game next season after ending the 2017/2018 campaign bottom of Sky Bet League One with just 36 points from 46 matches. Caretaker manager Ryan Lowe was given the job on a full-time basis last month with the poor performances of many members of the squad having been blamed for the club’s relegation.
