Odds on next Leeds United manager change drastically

Leeds United’s search for a new manager has taken a new turn today, with reports suggesting that they have made an approach for Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce.

Villa’s defeat in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final has left them in a lot of trouble financially, and Leeds are set to offer the former Manchester United defender a way out, by giving him the chance to become their new manager.

This comes after talks with Argentinian boss Marcelo Bielsa appeared to stall, with European side Sporting Lisbon also displaying an interest in making the former Athletic Bilbao man their new manager.

Leeds United have been looking for a new manager for a week now since they decided to sack Paul Heckingbottom after just a matter of months in charge at Elland Road.

The former Barnsley boss had failed to overturn the fortunes of the Yorkshire club, and he has paid the price.

So, it has been another busy day at Leeds United, but what impact has today’s news had on the odds given out by popular bookmakers Sky Bet?

Well, it has had quite a big impact on the odds, with Steve Bruce being given odds of 5/1. Compare this to the 20/1 he was before the news broke, and you will see that there is a serious nature to today’s reports.

As well as this, Marcelo Bielsa has now dropped down to 4/9 to become the next Leeds United manager. Granted, he is still odds on favourite, but considering he was as low as 1/5 yesterday, it shows that the bookmakers are not sure what the future holds for the Elland Road club.
