Earlier today, the72 reported that Leeds United had made an approach to Aston Villa with regards to the availability of their manager Steve Bruce.
The Midlands club are on the brink of administration, and Leeds are set to offer Bruce an easy way out of the club, IF they are unable to convince Argentinian manager Marcelo Bielsa to move to Elland Road.
Bielsa is believed to be Leeds United’s first choice, but after reports that talks with the former Athletic Bilbao boss are currently stalling, representatives of Leeds United made contact with Steve Bruce enquiring as to whether or not he would be interested in becoming the club’s next manager.
Steve Bruce is an experience Sky Bet Championship manager, and whilst he may not be able to provide the expansive football that Marcelo Bielsa can offer, he would bring his own individual quality with him.
His teams are extremely hard to break down, which is shown by the fact that Aston Villa conceded the third least amount of goals in the Sky Bet Championship this season.
But one main factor that may excite Leeds United fans is Bruce’s history with a certain striker that the Yorkshire club have been linked with for a number of weeks now.
Abel Hernandez confirmed that he would not be signing a new deal at Hull City this summer, and Leeds emerged as favourites to secure his signature, with reports suggesting that they were in advanced talks to sign the Uruguayan striker.
However, in recent days, Turkish side Galatasary have entered the race, and Leeds fans are worrying that they may miss out.
This is where Steve Bruce comes in. The current Aston Villa boss has plenty of history with Abel Hernandez, and was in fact the manager that originally gave him his chance in England, signing him for Hull City.
He knows exactly what Hernandez is capable of, and more importantly Hernandez knows exactly what Steve Bruce is about.
