Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott wants a move to Nottingham Forest according to Posh’s director of football Barry Fry.
The Peterborough front man has been linked with a move to a number of Sky Bet Championship clubs this summer after his excellent season, in which he scored 27 league goals on the way to winning the Sky Bet League One golden boot.
Leeds United had previously been favourites to secure his signature as they look for a striker following the return of Pierre-Michel Lasogga to his parent club, but it appears that Marriott would favour a move to Nottingham Forest.
As quoted by the Nottingham Post, Barry Fry said: “The player has said that he would favour Nottingham Forest because of their history and the representatives he spoke to said Nottingham Forest are having a right go next year to try to get back to where they belong, in the Premier League.”
“I’m aware that Jack Marriott’s agent has spoken to Nottingham Forest and I’m aware that the Nottingham Forest manager has spoken to my manager, Steve Evans, and spoken about Jack, but as yet there has not been a bid from them.”
Barry Fry confirmed that whilst it is likely that Jack Marriott will leave the club this summer, he will not move on unless their valuation of the 23-year-old is met.
Marriott still has three years left on his current deal at the ABAX Stadium, and that will stand Posh in good stead as they chase a club record £6.5 million for the striker.
