Wigan Athletic and Sunderland want 18-goal League One striker

Wigan Athletic and Sunderland are both keen on signing AFC Wimbledon striker Lyle Taylor, according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old is out of contract with Wimbledon at the end of the month meaning he can leave them on a free transfer. There is also believed to be interest in him in League One from Southend United, Bristol Rovers and Peterborough United.

Wigan Athletic are preparing for life back in the Championship and are looking to bolster their attack by bringing Lyle Taylor to the North-West. The Latics have already signed Leonardo Da Silva Lopes from Peterborough so far this summer.

Sunderland are also being credited with an interest. The Black Cats are eager to add some League One experience to their ranks as they aim to gain promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Lyle Taylor scored 18 goals last season to help Wimbledon stay in the third tier. He has been offered a new contract to stay at Kingsmeadow but is now weighing up his options. He has played for them since 2015 and has scored a combined 55 goals in his time there.

Taylor has previously played for the likes of Millwall, AFC Bournemouth, Falkirk, Sheffield United, Partick Thistle and Scunthorpe United but has really found his feet at Wimbledon. It is looking likely that he will move on this summer for a fresh challenge, but to where is yet to be established.
