Spurs see odds to sign promising English starlet slashed

Top flight Tottenham Hotspur have see their odds to sign young English defender Alfie Mawson from Swansea City slashed. With online bookmakers Sky Bet, they’re are now at 13/8 to sign the promising youngster with Arsenal at 4/1 and West Ham at 5/1.

Ever since Swansea were relegated back to the Championship last season Mawson has been linked with a move away from the Welsh South coast. The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the most promising young talents about and even earned a senior England call-up back in March of this year. The fact Swansea were relegated around the same time as his first call-up just shows how highly rated he is in the English game.

Alfie Mawson started his career at Brentford where he failed to make a single competitive appearance. During his time there he was loaned out six different times to four different clubs before eventually moving on. In 2015 he moved to, at the time, League One Barnsley. During his time there he made 49 appearances, scoring eight goals which helped The Tykes to promotion following at 3-1 Play Off Final victory over Millwall at Wembley.

That promotion season earned his big Premier League move to South Wales where he has continued to seriously impress. He’s made 65 appearances for Swansea City in all competitions since joining in 2016 and rarely has he had a bad game. For such a young talent he’s extremely calm and composed when defending and also has quite an eye for goal when he gets his chance. It’s fair to say if Spurs do get their hands on this man it’ll be an excellent piece of business for them.
