Aston Villa

Dr. X + ia x £££ + high % of mistakes = Aston Villa shocker

Dr. Xia seemed like the saviour when he arrived at Aston Villa as they contemplated life outside of the Premier League. Under his ownership it was as straightforward as it could be. They sign whoever they want with his unlimited amount of funds and seal promotion first time of asking. Two years on disaster looms.

Villa are a big club at Championship level, even their fiercest rivals would accept that behind closed doors but the Championship doesn’t always bow to millions and that has been the case with a few of the bigger sides currently in the division. Aston Villa are far and away in the worst position but Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich City, Derby County and Hull City are all having big problems and nobody will be there to pick them up if they don’t sort it out. The others all seem to be getting their act together and accepting mid-table for the time being, this isn’t the case at Villa Park.

John Terry, a player that signals only one thing, promotion. What he will be remembered for is only one thing, failure. He had a good season but if you spend that amount of money one a player at this level you expect them to be the best and quite simply he wasn’t. Jonathan Kodjia, Scott Hogan, Ross McCormack, Glenn Whelan, Henri Lansbury, James Chester, Chris Samba, Robert Snodgrass…all players on huge wages and they aren’t the only ones. None of these players have delivered what they needed to in the last couple of years and Villa will pay the price.

Administration, transfer embargos and potentially worse await Villa unless they steady their ship. They are willing to listen to offers for almost all of their players and the future of Steve Bruce is extremely uncertain, he would be judged on this season and like him or not he failed, an incredible amount of money was gambled by him and Dr. Xia on players and they have failed in monumental fashion, doing the worst thing possible as the people who run the football club, putting it at risk. Who knows where this is going now.
