Three defender’s West Brom could sign to replace Jonny Evans

Jonny Evans’ move to Leicester seems all but done and the Northern Irish international looks set to continue playing in the Premier League next season. Here are three defenders Darren Moore should sign to replace the Baggies captain:

Matt Clarke, Portsmouth – Clarke is one of Pompey’s biggest assets and has already had a number of Championship clubs enquire about his services. The 21 year old was instrumental in Portsmouth’s first season back in League One and carried the captain’s armband on a number of occasions despite his young age. The 6ft 2in centre half would be a fantastic replacement for Evans and has the potential to play in the Premier League.

Michael Hefele, Huddersfield Town – The towering and imposing German defender stands at 6ft 4in and would be a smart signing by Darren Moore. Hefele was one of the first names on the team sheet during HUddersfield’s promotion winning season, where he made 37 appearances for the Terriers. Despite injury this season, Hefele has only managed 2 appearances for Huddersfield and appears to be out of favour with David Wagner. He is a man with experience of gaining promotion from the Championship and would fit in at the heart of the Baggies back line.

Aden Flint, Bristol City – Flint has been heavily linked with Albion throughout this transfer window and it would be a smart decision by Darren Moore to sign the goalscoring defender. He notched 8 goals from defence last season and was ever-present beside Bailey Wright. He played a big part in helping the Robins to the Carabao Cup Semi-Final and will be a wanted man this summer. West Brom should act quickly to secure his signature.
