Leeds United face competition from Rangers for Liverpool youngster

Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United are facing stiff competition in their pursuit of Liverpool winger Ryan Kent.

Goal.com report that Scottish Premier League side Rangers, who are now managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, are also interested in signing Kent on a season long loan deal.

Obviously on first glance, Rangers hold the advantage following their decision to appoint Steven Gerrard as their manager, but Leeds United will be hoping that Liverpool will see the benefits of Kent remaining in England and gaining experience of the English game.

The 21-year-old as experience in the second tier of English football, having been loaned to Bristol City for the second half of the season. He played ten games, scoring just one goal.

The South West club were forced to pay a fee of £500,000 after not handing Ryan Kent enough starts, which is something that Leeds United will have to be very wary of if they do secure his signature.

Kent graduated through the youth academy at Liverpool, but has played just one game for the Merseyside club, featuring in their 2015/16 FA Cup campaign.

Instead, like many young players at Premier League clubs, he has spent the majority of his career out on loan.

The Oldham born winger has spent time on loan at Coventry City and Barnsley in England, as well as venturing to Germany to play for SC Freiburg at the start of the 2017/18 campaign.

Ryan Kent signed a new deal at Anfield last summer, and is seen as one for the future, so his acquisition could be an excellent one for Leeds United.
