Nottingham Forest, Hull & Sunderland chase League One winger

Sky Sports understands that a trio of EFL clubs want to sign Scunthorpe United starlet Hakeeb Adelakun. Nottingham Forest and Hull City from the Championship are keen, as are Sunderland, now in League One.

The player has supposedly told the club that he wishes to leave. His contract is soon due to expire at Glanford Park, but Scunthorpe would receive a fee for Adelakun given he is only aged 21. He has made progress year-by-year with the Iron, and now wishes to test himself with a bigger club, or maybe even in the division above.

Sunderland are not necessarily well behind in the race for the player, despite Nottingham Forest and Hull being in the second tier. Jack Ross has major ambitions for the Black Cats, and intends to get the club promoted at the first attempt following relegation. Aitor Karanka however is stamping his own authority on the roster at the City Ground as well. Adelakun nicely fits the DNA for the type of exciting player he now wishes to recruit. Hull are losing some big names from their squad, so replacements are needed. In terms of location, it could be ideal for Adelakun to remain where he is. Nevertheless, he is likely to face a big decision this summer to see where his next move will be. What does look certain, is that he will not be a Scunthorpe United player for much longer. He has made well over 100 appearances for the club. His last goal came on May 1st, in a 2-0 home victory over Plymouth Argyle.
